There are 80 registered co-operative societies (co-ops) in Singapore that provide a variety of services including supermarket, thrift and loan, childcare and welfare services. The COVID-19 pandemic demonstrated that the business model of co-ops serves people’s social and economic needs in bad times and not just in good times.
