Committee of Supply 2025 debate, Day 6: Keith Chua on social service evolution
In parliament on Friday (Mar 7), NMP Keith Chua expressed hope that many more Singaporeans will see the social service sector as one that will present opportunities for a fulfilling career. He asked how the social service sector might continue to attract, nurture and retain talent beyond better wages. He also wanted to know if the Social and Family Development Minister would consider actively building a pool of trained volunteers in key areas of need to complement full-time professional teams. He also asked if displaced workers from commercial sectors can be actively retrained to take up jobs in the social service sector.
