Committee of Supply 2026 debate, Day 1: Kuah Boon Theng on encouraging fertility testing

04:54 Min

If Singapore is serious about creating greater awareness among young couples not to take their fertility for granted, it should make it easier for them to pay for fertility tests. This means extending generous subsidies and allowing MediSave coverage to meet the costs if testing is done within the first year of marriage, for example, at public or private clinics. NMP Kuah Boon Theng said this in parliament on Thursday (Feb 26). She also called for higher subsidies for assisted reproductive technology treatments, including at private centres.
