David Neo on support for athletes across their sporting careers
Sport Singapore’s High Performance Sports Institute, which supports the development of elite national athletes, designs its support based on athletes’ current performance and assessed potential, rather than age - with no limit on how long they can be supported. Acting Culture, Community and Youth Minister David Neo said this in parliament on Wednesday (Feb 4) in reply to a Member’s question. He explained how the Sports Excellence (spex) framework provides comprehensive support for athletes across different stages of their journeys, including late bloomers or those who switch sports.
