Debate on President’s Address: Mohd Fahmi Aliman on building a cohesive and resilient society
In Parliament on Monday (Apr 17), MP Mohd Fahmi Aliman brought up three components of building a cohesive and resilient society in Singapore. They were recognising the value of Singapore’s diverse cultural heritage, investing in support for vulnerable groups and building trust with the workforce. Elaborating on the cultural and cognitive benefits of learning mother tongue languages, Mr Fahmi urged the Government to continue to invest in preserving and promoting them. He also spoke on the importance of the Focus Area 4 (FA4) workgroup that aims to support Malay-Muslim workers, as well as the labour movement’s #EveryWorkerMatters Conversations which seek to better understand workers’ perspectives to chart long-term strategies.
