Dennis Tan on Food Safety and Security Bill

In Parliament on Wednesday (Jan 8), MP Dennis Tan welcomed the Food Safety and Security Bill but shared some concerns. Beyond increasing penalties, he wanted to know what are the other efforts of the Singapore Food Agency to promote best practices in the industry and minimise the incidence of food poisoning. On the issue of food security, he also wanted to know what other food will be subjected to the Minimum Stockholding Requirement (MSR) regime besides rice, and whether the MSR would eventually cover a full range of food items.
