Dennis Tan on racial harmony and constitutional amendment bills
Clan and business associations linked to races should be protected from foreign political influence and interference, said MP Dennis Tan. But he is concerned with the possible impact the new rules may have on Singapore’s clan associations and race-based associations whose focus may be cultural and economic and not political. Speaking in Parliament on Tuesday (Feb 4), he said the reporting requirements should not overly burden the management of clan and business organisations, especially the smaller clans. He urged the Government to be empathetic to their organisational constraints.
