Desmond Lee on Single Room Shared Facilities initiative

11:38 Min

The Housing and Development Board (HDB) is launching a pilot of the Single Room Shared Facilities (SRSF) initiative for low-income singles under the Public Rental Scheme. It is currently refurbishing the premises at the former Anderson Junior College hostel to prepare for the pilot. Applications will open in December this year. Since the announcement, HDB has received feedback of interest in applying for the pilot. It has also received suggestions on the amenities to be provided for the shared facilities, such as the kitchens and laundry rooms. HDB will adopt them where possible. National Development Minister Desmond Lee, who gave this update in reply to an MP’s questions in Parliament on Wednesday (Jul 5), said HDB will work alongside the appointed social service agency operator to refine the model as it gains experience.
