03:54 Min

In Parliament on Tuesday (Aug 6), MP Don Wee said he strongly supported a proposal to allow the Court to order the sale of seized properties linked to suspected criminal activities. However, he asked what procedures will be put in place to ensure the process is fair and transparent. On designating serious foreign environmental crimes as money laundering predicate offences, he raised concern about possible complexities. He suggested that Singapore develop agreements and protocols for cooperation with other jurisdictions to streamline evidence- and information-gathering, and provide relevant training and resources to law enforcement agencies.
