Don Wee on Copyright Bill
The Copyright Bill will ensure that the creation of works is rewarded and available for the benefit of society, said MP Don Wee. Speaking in Parliament on Monday (Sep 13), he wanted to know if the Law Ministry will work with the Monetary Authority of Singapore and the accountancy sector to develop a valuation and financing framework so that the copyright can be valued, collateralised and encashed. He voiced concerns with how the safeguards for copyright owners will be interpreted, in light of the growing use of artificial intelligence and machine learning platforms to perform autonomous data mining.
