Don Wee on moving towards a low-carbon society
Mandate statutory boards to issue a minimum number of green bonds annually, including a standalone retail green bond product which can be tied to Singapore's sovereign rating. This will lay the framework for green financing and broaden the pool of Singaporean green investors, said MP Don Wee. Speaking in Parliament on Wednesday (Jan 12), he said Singapore, as a key global financial centre, has a "strong responsibility" to communities most vulnerable to climate change, to spearhead the mobilisation of climate finance in the region.
