Eileen Chong on Skills and Workforce Development Agency Bill
Singapore needs a system that moves employers and workers forward together - where upskilling leads somewhere, hiring is fair and success is measured in lives that have durably improved, said NCMP Eileen Chong. The Skills and Workforce Development Agency carries a mandate that workers have heard different versions of before and that is precisely why it should do things differently, she said in parliament on Tuesday (May 5). She wanted to know how it would be resourced and empowered to drive job redesign at a scale that Singapore genuinely needs. She also wanted to know if it would work with the Public Service to lead the adoption of skills-based hiring across public sector jobs.
