Eric Chua on cost of CCTV installation in preschools
More than 60 per cent of preschools had already installed CCTVs on their premises as at 2022, based on a survey conducted by the Early Childhood Development Agency. This was before it was announced last year that CCTVs would be mandatory in preschools by 1 July 2024. Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Social and Family Development Eric Chua said this in Parliament on Monday (Oct 14). In other words, he said, the majority of preschools had already factored in CCTV installation as part of their business cost and those which have not installed CCTVs yet should do the same. Mr Chua was responding to an MP’s questions about whether his ministry had done studies on the cost of CCTV installation and if it could consider subsidy support for preschools.
