Under a programme for OCBC staff to work with lower-income families living in rental flats, these volunteers will be introduced to issues and challenges faced by the families - including mental health issues, substance misuse and domestic violence or abuse. However, any intervention will be done by social service or healthcare professionals to whom the families would be referred. Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Social and Family Development Eric Chua clarified this in response to a Member’s question in the House on Tuesday (Nov 7). He also said there will be no need to specifically evaluate the outcomes of the Families100 Programme as the progress of all 14,000 families under ComLink will be tracked.
