Eric Chua on Lasting Power of Attorney

The Mental Capacity Act and Mental Capacity Regulations do not require Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) certificate issuers to enquire if a donor has previously executed a foreign LPA or an equivalent instrument. Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Social and Family Development Eric Chua said this in reply to an MP's questions in Parliament on Tuesday (Feb 7). He said such scenarios are not expected to be common and Singapore is mindful about keeping the LPA application process simple.
