Eric Chua on standards of care in disability homes

01:24 Min

Government-funded disability homes in Singapore must follow guidelines and requirements on service models and standards of care, including clients’ safety and well-being, staff ratios and training, hygiene standards, care programmes and incident management. These apply to facilities for children and adults and are enforced through regular checks. At the same time, the Ministry of Social and Family Development is reviewing how to better ensure standards of care in disability services and will share more in due course. Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Social and Family Development Eric Chua said this on Wednesday (Feb 7) in answer to an MP’s question.
