Gan Siow Huang on help for graduates in hospitality, aviation and aerospace sectors

03:10 Min

About 5,000 students from full-time courses in hospitality, aviation and aerospace graduated between December 2020 and September 2021. Giving the figure in Parliament on Monday (Oct 4) in response to an MP's questions, Minister of State for Education Gan Siow Huang outlined the help available to them to find job opportunities, as those sectors have been especially hard-hit by COVID-19. She also said around nine in 10 graduates in those industries who entered the labour market last year found jobs within six months of their final exams or one year after finishing National Service; among them, about one in 10 were trainees under the SGUnited Traineeships Programme. Ms Gan said the employment rate was similar to that of the overall 2020 cohort as well as the 2019 pre-pandemic cohort.
