Gan Siow Huang on making flexible work arrangements a permanent feature of the workplace
Tripartite guidelines will be introduced by 2024, requiring employers to fairly and properly consider employees’ requests for flexible work arrangements. In the meantime, efforts are being made to normalise this, said Minister of State for Manpower Gan Siow Huang in response to a Parliamentary question on Monday (May 9). She acknowledged that for permanent flexi-work to be sustainable and effective, employers will require time and support to find “the right calibration” for employees while also meeting business needs. Ms Gan said Singapore’s tripartite partners will do more to equip companies with the know-how to implement such arrangements in a “win-win” manner.
