Gan Siow Huang on support for skills-based hiring
Employers can create greater confidence for individuals to pursue industry-relevant training by adopting skills-based hiring practices, said Minister of State for Education Gan Siow Huang. Replying to an MP’s questions in parliament on Tuesday (Feb 18), she said these practices include recognising individual skills and competencies attained rather than relying on credentials and qualifications alone. She said it is in the employers’ interest to do so as they will benefit from having access to a wider pool of talent.
