Gan Thiam Poh on Adoption of Children Bill
It is important that all prospective adoptive parents undergo comprehensive medical examinations to certify that they are fit, especially as adoptive couples tend to be older, said MP Gan Thiam Poh in Parliament on Monday (May 9). He asked if a proposed overhaul of child adoption laws will require potential adopters to submit more detailed health information. Mr Gan also urged the authorities to maintain the “cautious approach” they have taken so far when it comes to encouraging disclosure of a child’s adopted status.
