Gan Thiam Poh on Public Defenders Bill
The setting up of the Public Defender's Office will ensure that accused persons who are vulnerable will have access to representation and confidence in Singapore's justice system, said MP Gan Thiam Poh. Speaking in Parliament on Monday (Aug 1), he stressed the need to provide independent, high quality and value-for-money criminal defence services. These include specifically designed criteria and benchmarks to raise quality standards in criminal defence.
