Gho Sze Kee on Skills and Workforce Development Agency Bill
An entire industry has sprung up around SkillsFuture training, with thousands of courses from hundreds of training providers. MP Gho Sze Kee, who shared this observation in parliament on Tuesday (May 5), said there appears to be an attitude that since this is public money, one might as well spend it. The move to have a new Skills and Workforce Development Agency should bring renewed clarity and focus on higher objectives, she said. Ms Gho suggested reviewing the approach to SkillsFuture credits. Instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, provide greater support to those who show a commitment to upgrade. This would encourage deeper and more purposeful learning, as well as better support workers who take charge of their career health, she said.
