Goh Pei Ming on trend in rape and molestation cases
From 2024 to 2025, there was an increase of 104 cases of outrage of modesty (OM) - from 1,427 to 1,531 cases. Rape cases also went up - from 401 to 479. The majority of rape cases and more than half of OM cases involved offenders known to the victims. The proportion of rape and OM cases involving offenders known to the victims has remained stable over the last five years. Minister of State for Home Affairs Goh Pei Ming shared these statistics in reply to an MP’s question in parliament on Wednesday (Apr 8).
