Hamid Razak on Land Transport and Related Matters (No. 2) Bill
As enforcement against illegal point-to-point ride operators tightens - especially if penalties are eventually extended to commuters - legitimate cross-border options must be available, convenient and affordable, said MP Hamid Razak. To that end, he called on the Ministry of Transport to monitor waiting times, fares and availability of recently enhanced cross-border taxi services. He also asked if data from sandboxes involving autonomous vehicles on public paths will inform not only technical safety standards, but also a framework for liability, insurance and accountability, and whether this framework will be settled before commercial autonomous services begin and expand. He spoke in parliament on Wednesday (Oct 7).
