Hamid Razak on Road Traffic (Miscellaneous Amendments) Bill
In parliament on Tuesday (Aug 4), MP Hamid Razak welcomed new road traffic offences of purposeful endangerment and holding a mobile phone while driving. However, he asked about safeguards surrounding suspension of driving licences to ensure fairness for professional drivers. These include ensuring that such powers remain proportionate and transparent, and expeditious handling of appeals and mechanisms to minimise unnecessary disruption to livelihoods for drivers who are exonerated.
