Hany Soh on Electronic Conveyancing and Other Matters Bill
The Digital Conveyancing Portal (DCP) will streamline the conveyancing process, enhance convenience and minimise the risk of errors, said MP Hany Soh. However, she raised several concerns in parliament on Wednesday (Oct 15). She wanted to know if the Singapore Land Authority (SLA) has secured buy-in from all or most stakeholders - if not, why; and how will this be addressed? She also asked if the DCP is intended to become the only platform for conveyancing. If not and if there is no mandated shift, old habits may die hard, which could lead to confusion, she said. Ms Soh suggested that government agencies such as HDB and the CPF Board take the lead in using the DCP, and that SLA work with partners to develop a skilled workforce to support the transition.
