Hazel Poa on advancing mental health
With mental health disorders on the rise, the Ministry of Health could consider doing a study on the possible causal or risk factors to guide preventive efforts. This was one suggestion made by NCMP Hazel Poa in Parliament on Tuesday (Feb 6). She also asked if the Government would look at some form of wage subsidy for employers who hire staff with mental health conditions, or the option of a four-day work week with pro-rated pay for employees with mental conditions. Ms Poa also reiterated a call she had made previously to monitor students’ mental well-being regularly and systematically, as is done for their academic achievements and physical fitness.
