The new Skills and Workforce Development Agency must take a people-centric approach that will lead to fruitful employment opportunities for workers and a deep pool of talent for employers to draw from, said MP He Ting Ru in parliament on Tuesday (May 5). She called on the government to track and publish clear key performance indicators on the effectiveness of SkillsFuture and career coaching programmes. These could include take-up rate, duration of employment and post-training placement. Ms He added that more should be done to address underemployment among persons with disabilities and promote the social sector, not just focus on areas with strong economic potential.
