Heng Chee How on review of allowance for full-time NSFs

02:38 Min

Full-time National Servicemen (NSFs) receive an allowance to support their basic personal upkeep. The allowance takes into account lodging, food, clothing and medical care. Over the last 10 years, there have been three adjustments in the allowance. The Ministry of Defence will continue to regularly review and adjust the allowance where necessary. Senior Minister of State for Defence Heng Chee How said this in Parliament on Wednesday (Feb 22), in reply to an MP's question on whether there has been any consideration towards raising the allowance in view of inflationary pressures and increases in the cost of living.
