Henry Kwek on Adoption of Children Bill
Will biological parents who risk having their children taken away from them by the state be informed of this at the earliest possible time? MP Henry Kwek asked this in Parliament on Monday (May 9). He sought clarification on the considerations and steps that Government agencies will take before separating vulnerable children from their biological parents and putting them up for adoption. He noted that by informing biological parents early on of the consequences of their actions, the fear of losing their children might inspire them to take a different path. Mr Kwek also asked how the Government decides whether children are put up for adoption rather than fostering, and whether it will be possible for fostered children to be adopted.
