Henry Kwek on Housing and Development (Amendment) Bill
The proposed changes under the Housing and Development (Amendment) Bill are "excellent moves" that will help to spur heartland merchants and revive heartland shops, said MP Henry Kwek. Speaking in Parliament on Tuesday (Jan 10), he stressed the need to strengthen the partnership between the Housing and Development Board (HDB) and merchants' associations. Turning to the threshold of 75 per cent for upgrading to proceed, he hopes that after a few years down the road, HDB can review if this is the best option.Â
