Indranee Rajah on private property of spouses of HDB flat owners
Resale executive condominium (EC) units are private residential property. HDB does not track data on the owners and occupiers of EC units beyond five years from when the EC receives its Temporary Occupation Permit. As such, HDB does not have data of all who are currently occupants of the EC unit that their spouse is an owner of. As for those registered as occupiers of their spouses' HDB flat, HDB's data only captures whether they proceeded to purchase a private property after fulfilling the requisite Minimum Occupation Period. However, HDB does not capture whether they purchased the private property in their own name or jointly with others. They may have purchased private property with a spouse who may then have subsequently disposed of the HDB flat. Second Minister for National Development Indranee Rajah said this in reply to an MP's question in Parliament on Tuesday (Nov 29). Â
