Jackson Lam on Land Transport and Related Matters (No. 2) Bill

09:09 Min

New safety requirements for active mobility device batteries do not address incompatible batteries that are already installed or in circulation today, said MP Jackson Lam. He asked if the Land Transport Authority would consider a structured trade-in or exchange programme for such batteries, to “make it easy for people to do the right thing”. He also proposed creating a simple online tool where owners can check if their devices and batteries are compatible, without needing to understand technical specifications. Mr Lam spoke in parliament on Wednesday (Oct 7).
