Jamus Lim on Adoption of Children Bill

15:51 Min
In Parliament on Monday (May 9), MP Jamus Lim expressed concern that some measures proposed in the Adoption of Children Bill could "inadvertently introduce unintended consequences that run counter to the child's interests". These include the timeframe for completion of the adoption process, which might create uncertainty in the child's home environment. Assoc Prof Lim also suggested that three-month paid adoption leave be extended to fathers as well, and called for more to be done to hold errant adoption agencies, especially repeat and flagrant offenders, to more permanent account.
