Jamus Lim on Communicable Diseases Agency Bill

The emergency preparedness and response mandate of the Communicable Diseases Agency Bill has to be sufficiently broad and should not be focused only on the most stereotypical public health emergencies which has to do with disease outbreaks like epidemics and pandemics. MP Jamus Lim said this in Parliament on Tuesday (Jan 7). Making several suggestions on the scope and objectives of the new Communicable Diseases Agency, he pointed out that the institution should also regard disaster management as a key part of its scenario planning parameters, as well as to consider the implications of bioterrorism threats.
