Jamus Lim on Monetary Authority of Singapore (Amendment) Bill
MP Jamus Lim has called for "additional introspection" and research by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) on whether there is in fact a potential under-valuation of the Singapore dollar. It should publish and share with the public the results of such research. If this is the case, would the Government consider whether a true gradual appreciation of the Singapore dollar - which would in turn indirectly mitigate much of the excess Official Foreign Reserves problem - might be warranted, he asked in Parliament on Tuesday (Jan 11).
