Janil Puthucheary on manpower needs of nursing homes
All nursing homes inspected within the last six months met the required staffing ratios, said Senior Minister of State for Health Janil Puthucheary. Replying to an MP's questions in Parliament on Monday (Mar 6), he pointed out that many healthcare institutions, including nursing homes, face a tight manpower situation as healthcare workers are in great demand throughout the world. He said the Ministry of Health (MOH) works with the Agency for Integrated Care to attract jobseekers to the community care sector, including nursing homes. They also work closely with nursing homes to develop healthcare workers professionally. MOH is also stepping up efforts to recruit foreign nurses to work in Singapore, he said.
