04:22 Min

Singapore supports the responsible development and deployment of artificial intelligence (AI) so that its benefits can be enjoyed safely, and has introduced tools to help achieve this. Senior Minister of State for Communications and Information Janil Puthucheary said this in Parliament on Friday (Apr 21) in reply to an MP’s questions. Dr Janil said one example is the Model AI Governance Framework which has been adopted by companies such as DBS, HSBC, Visa and Microsoft to address key ethical and governance issues when deploying AI solutions. Another tool is AI Verify, a self-testing framework and toolkit that has attracted the interest of more than 500 companies. Dr Janil said the Personal Data Protection Commission will issue advisory guidelines on the use of personal data in AI systems this year. Singapore also engages industry and international counterparts on AI-related issues.
