Jasmin Lau on alternative Singpass identity verification options

There are alternative verification methods for users who are unable to use facial recognition technology for reasons such as medical conditions or disabilities. These include one-time passwords or hardware tokens. Organisations which have opted for Singpass for authentication are expected to have at least one non-Singpass alternative method for users. The government will continue to work with stakeholders on alternative methods to facial recognition technology. Minister of State for Digital Development and Information Jasmin Lau said this in reply to an MP’s questions in parliament on Thursday (Feb 12).
