Jasmin Lau on heat mitigation measures in schools
The Ministry of Education aims to provide a conducive learning environment for students through heat-resilient school design, focused on passive cooling and additional heat mitigation measures, said Minister of State for Education Jasmin Lau. Replying to an MP's questions in parliament on Wednesday (Mar 4), she said that all new schools are designed to achieve Green Mark Platinum Super Low Energy certification, and that additional heat mitigation measures are being implemented progressively. She gave the update that by 2027, all schools will be provided with additional and more powerful fans for classrooms, and external building facades will be coated with cool paint.
