Jean See on Cybersecurity (Amendment) Bill
The Cybersecurity (Amendment) Bill is timely in holding businesses responsible for cybersecurity especially when the “rush to embrace AI and new technologies” may expose them to new risks, said NMP Jean See in Parliament on Tuesday (May 7). She suggested reinforcing the Bill with measures that boost public accountability and transparency of owners of Critical Information Infrastructure (CII). This would reinforce public trust that CII owners, the Government and core stakeholders are actively safeguarding the public’s interests against cyber threats. She suggested requiring CII owners to allocate a reasonable share of expenditure to continually strengthening cybersecurity and resilience. She also elaborated on ways that the Government could work with partners - be they other governments, technology producers or businesses - on cybersecurity.
