Jean See on Insurance (Amendment) Bill
The Insurance (Amendment) Bill presents an opportunity for Income and Allianz to articulate how the proposed partnership can do well and do good, said NMP Jean See. Doing well translates to safeguarding the best interests of stakeholders, including policyholders and shareholders, while doing good is about creating an impact footprint that is purposeful, meaningful and lasting in outcomes for workers and the social good, she said. Speaking in Parliament on Wednesday (Oct 16), she said Income must find new ways to navigate the Bill, with the ball now in its court. She also sought clarifications on the Bill. She wanted to know what constitutes “in the public interest”, what type of conditions could be attached and under what conditions would changes be made.
