Jessica Tan on Insurance (Amendment) Bill
The decision to halt the Income-Allianz deal and the fact that Parliament is meeting to debate and approve amendments to insurance laws demonstrate the effectiveness of due process in Singapore, MP Jessica Tan said in the House on Wednesday (Oct 16). She added that it is appropriate that the proposed amendments are “scoped” to address licensed insurers that are co-operatives or linked to co-operatives. This will avoid impacting the larger insurance market or causing undue anxiety among insurers in an already regulated sector, she said.
