Jessica Tan seeks clarification from Louis Ng

In Parliament on Wednesday (Nov 13), MP Jessica Tan sought clarification from MP Louis Ng on his earlier call for Singapore to move towards equalising maternity and paternity leave. Ms Tan pointed out that maternity leave is also meant for the mother to recover from pregnancy and childbirth. Mr Ng responded that it is precisely because the mother needs to recover that the father needs to be there; so “it is not a zero sum, it is not an either or”, he said.
