In Parliament on Monday (Jan 10), MP Joan Pereira sought clarification on a proposed digitalisation of marriage certificates. Would this apply to religious marriage ceremonies, she asked - and if so, what would be done to beef up digital security at churches and temples that issue the certificates? She also wanted to know how digitally registered marriages will be reflected in Singpass, noting that currently, only the marriage certificate number is reflected, but not the identity of the spouse. In cases of divorce, Ms Pereira called for more support to be given to older children, not just younger ones.
