Koh Poh Koon on financial support for cancer patients and caregivers

A balance must be struck between preserving caregivers’ MediSave funds for their own healthcare needs and ensuring adequate family support for cancer patients, Senior Minister of State for Health Koh Poh Koon told Parliament on Tuesday (Feb 16). He was responding to an MP’s question about raising or removing caregivers’ withdrawal limits to help pay for relatives’ medical expenses. Dr Koh said families in need can approach medical social workers to possibly mobilise aid from MediFund. He also detailed the various financial support schemes, grants and tax reliefs available.
