Koh Poh Koon on protecting workers who report unfair workplace practices
The Tripartite Alliance for Fair and Progressive Employment Practices (TAFEP) will follow up on anonymous reports under the planned Workplace Fairness Legislation on a best-efforts basis, similar to other complaints of workplace discrimination. TAFEP does not disclose the employee’s identity to the employer. To further reassure employees, the proposed legislation will require employers to implement processes to handle the grievances of employees and protect their identity. It will also prohibit employers from retaliating against employees. Senior Minister of State for Manpower Koh Poh Koon said this in reply to an MP’s question in Parliament on Friday (Feb 16).
