Lee Hong Chuang on Energy Conservation (Amendment) Bill
Energy efficiency remains one of the most practical and cost-effective ways for Singapore to enhance energy security, reduce emissions and strengthen its long-term economic competitiveness. The Energy Conservation (Amendment) Bill helps to ensure that energy efficiency standards are applied more consistently across industries. MP Lee Hong Chuang made these points in parliament on Tuesday (Apr 7). The effectiveness of the regulations, he said, will depend on fair enforcement, stronger support for small- and medium-sized enterprises to make energy-efficient upgrades, and developing professional courses in energy management to ensure that companies have the necessary talent. Mr Lee also noted that amid rising global volatility, the biggest risk faced by companies is often not just higher prices, but uncertainty of supply chains.
