Lee Hong Chuang on Land Titles (Strata) (Amendment) Bill
Lower collective sale thresholds for older developments are being proposed with stronger safeguards for owners who do not consent, but a move can still cause hardship and emotional distress, particularly for older residents, said MP Lee Hong Chuang. He suggested an “early and neutral advisory channel” for elderly or vulnerable households to help them better understand timelines and available options. He also called for small businesses, which might lose a shop front and have to rebuild, not to be overlooked. They would need clearer guidance on the transition and handover, and how compensation may be pursued, he said in parliament on Tuesday (Sep 8).
