Lee Hong Chuang on Securities and Futures (Amendment) Bill

09:07 Min

The Securities and Futures (Amendment) Bill presents an opportunity to strengthen Singapore's position in sustainable finance, said MP Lee Hong Chuang. As more investors allocate capital based on environmental and social considerations, Singapore’s regulatory framework will not only protect investors from greenwashing, but will also give credible companies greater confidence to raise capital here, he added. Speaking in parliament on Thursday (May 7), he also highlighted the need to leverage technology and digitalisation in capital markets for regulatory clarity to keep pace with innovation. He urged the government to strengthen retail investor participation through financial literacy, transparency of products and accessibility of information.
